Christmas music allows what we hear around the holidays to match the way we feel. As the song "Christmas Waltz" tells us, "It's that time of year when the world falls in love, every song you hear seems to say, 'Merry Christmas', may your New Year's dreams come true. And this song of mine in three quarter time wishes you and yours the same thing too." If you don't know or have forgotten about that song, then you and your ears are in luck because this page is dedicated to Christmas music and songs that no Christmas season. In fact, Christmas Waltz is included in the list of amazing, lesser known songs to the left. Some of these songs may be new or may be played around the holidays, but we feel they are often overlooked.

Some of our Favorite Christmas Albums (For Specific Reasons)

Why We Like Them: The Ones We Like the Whole Way Through

The Home Alone 2 Soundtrack is one of the best Christmas Soundtracks ever made. Unfortunately it has been discontinued and some of the songs are very difficult to find now. Just as in the first movie, the original music was done by the legendary John Williams (a.k.a. Star Wars, E.T., Harry Potter, etc.). Whereas the first soundtrack was primarily instrumental Christmas music, this one is primarily songs with lyrics. Say what you will about Home Alone 2, but the music was amazing! Click through this one to Amazon and listen to samples.

The Muppet Christmas Carol Soundtrack is another Christmas Soundtrack we recommend purchasing and just pushing play, especially if you have children. We really liked the songs created for this movie by Paul Williams, who has actually played an elf in another Christmas movie and is in the songwriters' hall of fame.

Vince Gill has the perfect Christmas voice and this album is a pleasure to listen to. It is calming, reflective and just beautiful. Our two favorites from the CD are "Do you hear what I hear?" and "Let there be peace on earth." Trust us, you'll like them.

MTV TRL Christmas is a fun album to put on during a party as in has more uptempo, edgy Christmas songs. So if you are looking for Christmas songs that you can dance to, this could be a good CD to get.

John Denver & the Muppets: A Christmas Together is another great album, especially for families with children. Hearing the muppets' take on holiday classics still makes us smile. Hearing the late, great John Denver sing with the Muppets makes us nostalgic for all his cameos and collaborations with them.

Nick at Nite's Classic Cartoon Christmas is a great CD for anyone who is having a hard time finding the songs from the classic Christmas cartoon specials: the Grinch, Charlie Brown, Rudolph, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and A Muppet Famiy Christmas. Some of these songs are incredibly difficult to find a recording of, such as "Put One Foot in Front of the Other" from Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, and the Muppets singing "We Need a Little Christmas" From a Muppet Family Christmas.

Spirit of The Season: Christmas with Sissel and The Mormon Tabernacle Choir we included for those looking for an elegantly beautiful, and perhaps a little bit of a different, Christmas CD. We are big fans of Sissel's voice and it is a shame she hasn't recorded more Christmas music.

Why We Like Them: Albums We Recommend for a Single Song

The Elf Soundtrack we really recommended for one song "Baby It's Cold Outside" by Zooey Deschanel & Leon Redbone. Zooey has a new Christmas album out with her duo band, She & Him, that includes a version of this song, but the one on the Elf soundtrack is the best.

Sunday Music 5: Holiday we recommend for one song, the instrumental version of "O Holy Night" from the sadly, too quickly, cancelled Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip's "The Christmas Episode" episode.

The Ultimate Christmas Album, Vol. 3 - WOGL 98.1 Philadelphia we recommend for people who are trying to find the Mavis Staples version of "Christmas Vacation" from the opening credits of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. The song is REALLY difficult to find and this compilation gives you some really fun other Christmas songs as well, including "All Alone on Christmas" by Darlene Love from Home Alone 2.

Song Spotlight

The Florin Street Band: "My Favourite Time of Year"

Even though it isn't getting as much press in the US as new Christmas releases from bigger artists, this is one of our favorite new Christmas songs of the season. The band was created with no help from the music industry and the lead singer had to do much of the work on his own, including advertising. The music video really gets you in the spirit of the season and is actually vying for the UK Christmas #1. So to paraphrase Love Actually "If you believe in Father Christmas, children, like your Uncle Billy does, buy" this amazing new Christmas song! Check it out below from the band's official YouTube page and visit their website if you are looking to buy sheet music or are interested in the story behind the song and video. Merry Christmas!!!
